Here are are few things that we do EVERYDAY as we strive to work toward a more sustainable business:
not all print labs are created equal. i've researched and communicated with many different labs, learning about the processes each one uses. I then ordered samples from the top eco-friendly providers and conducted my own analysis to ensure the quality was top-notch. you will only get prints and products from the providers who passed my tests!
while a vast majority of photographers use foam or styrene as a kind of strengthener on the back of large prints, you won't find them here. why? styrene is considered toxic, mutagenic, and possibly carcinogenic. my products are meant for your home - where your children live! more eco-friendly materials are available that provide long-lasting durability and I refuse to use any known toxic chemicals in the products you purchase from me.
Adhesives, while invisible to your eyes, are very important to the product’s durability. It also influences whether or not the product is recyclable. the albums I offer use only natural glues, made from green by-products of other manufacturers’ waste. This also helps to avoid depleting natural resources since virgin raw materials are not used!
every client receives a flash drive with the hi-res digital images from the photo session. this flash drive is 100% reusable! Once your photos are safely backed up (in multiple locations, including an online location, if possible) you can use the flash drive for your own personal use. most cd and dvds cannot be overwritten and over time, any writing or adhesive from labels on the disc will physically corrode the data.
Every single paper item that comes from my printer, or my lab's printer, is printed on recycled paper. The goal is to lessen the burden on our natural resources.
Other efforts include reducing electricity and water use, recycling packaging and paper, & reusing anything and everything as much as possible. All of this leads back to one of the core principles: Let the Sunshine to Give Back to the Earth.
